Hybrid Buses on the Way: Three new hybrid-electric diesel buses have joined TCAT’s fleet, and three more will join the fleet in the fall. The buses are expected to use 15 to 25 percent less fuel, reducing air emissions. The hybrid buses are also quieter-running. The hybrids are full-sized buses, are ADA compliant, and are equipped with bicycle racks.

Tompkins County Legislator Kathy Luz Herrera will chair the TCAT Board of Directors in 2007. Herrera succeeds City of Ithaca Common Council member Dan Cogan, who chaired the group in 2006.

2007 TCAT Board meetings are held at the TCAT facility at 737 Willow Avenue, Ithaca, and are open to the public. They will be held on the following Thursdays from 4-6 pm: January 25, February 22, March 22, April 26, May 24, June 28, July 26, September 27, October 25, December 6.

-New Route! Cornell North Campus to Shops at Ithaca Mall (Pyramid Mall): Rt. 34
-Hours of operation for the Rt. 10 (Downtown-Cornell shuttle) are extended; last trip leaves downtown at 6:00 p.m.


Testing CU ID Card Readers on Buses

At Cornell’s request, TCAT is working with BlackBox Consulting to install CU photo ID card-reading computer equipment on the buses. Click title for more information.



Currently, TCAT is detouring around the road construction on Cliff Street until further notice.


Seneca St. Shelter Has Reopened!

All routes that previously stopped at alternate locations due to the Seneca St. Shelter Reconstruction project have resumed service to the Seneca @ Commons stop. The Seneca @ Commons stop, a major stop in the TCAT system, is located at the corner of Tioga and Seneca Streets in downtown Ithaca.
